This bowl gives your little one a tasty start to their day. I have learned that rotating whole grains is very important when fulfilling the nutritional needs of children with extensive food allergies. Not only does a rotation provide a variety of nutrients, but it also gives your child a variety of flavors (which is key to getting them excited about mealtime). This bowl is so simple to make. I have included an image of the buckwheat breakfast cereal I use (buckwheat is actually gluten-free and wheat-free!). Enjoy!

Maple Buckwheat Breakfast Bowl (for tots!)

  • 2 tablespoons buckwheat hot cereal (see below for product recommendation)

  • 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons water

  • Pinch of Himilayan salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 2 teaspoons maple syrup

  • Shredded coconut

  • Small handful of raisins

Make hot cereal by simmering buckwheat, water, salt and cinnamon in a saucepan until the cereal is a creamy consistency, stirring frequently (about 2 minutes).

Transfer cereal to bowl and stir in maple syrup.

Top with coconut and raisins. Enjoy!

I use Pocono Organic Cream of Buckwheat for this recipe. I find it at my local health food store.
