We love fall in this house! This delicious treat is so simple to make and smells like the season. I just grabbed a small pumpkin from a local farm stand, cooked it up and added some pure maple syrup and spices. My toddler loved eating this on toast and using it as a dipping sauce for pretzels. It's nutritious and free of refined sugars, as well. Enjoy!

Spiced Pumpkin Butter

  • 1 medium pumpkin

  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/8 teaspoon allspice

  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1 whole clove (or 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves)

  1. Prepare your pumpkin by cutting off the stem and rough spot on the bottom. Scoop out the inside of the pumpkin and cut into quarters.

  2. In a large saucepot, steam pumpkin using a metal steamer basket for about 30 minutes until tender.

  3. Scoop out the insides of the pumpkin into a blender. Add the remaining ingredients and blend until pureed into a thick applesauce consistency.

  4. Enjoy on toast or with pretzels or crackers.
